One-Off Events

20 July at 7pm: “Artistry in Stone, Bronze and Wood”

The fine carvings of Frank Tory & Sons, the Sheffield firm of architectural sculptors, can be seen on and within many public, ecclesiastical and commercial buildings in Sheffield and in other English towns and cities. Come and hear Dr. Sylvia Dunkley talk about this important aspect of Sheffield’s late nineteenth and early twentieth century history which can still be admired on buildings such as the City Hall, the Central Library, St John’s Ranmoor and St Matthew’s, Carver Street. Tickets £5 available from the library.

Regular Events


We run a regular monthly program of cinema events, usually on the fourth Friday and Saturday of each month. Friday events (for grown-ups) start at 7pm, Saturday events (for children) start at 2pm. Refreshments are available including ice creams. For details, please see our Facebook page or the posters in the library.

Coffee Mornings: Every Friday 10.00 – 11.30
A cup of coffee or tea, a biscuit, and a friendly chat – all for just 50p. Come and join us; tell your friends!



A book club for children in school years 4, 5, 6 or 7.

Then ...Greenhill Village History Society

The society is a Community, non – profit making group, meeting at Greenhill Library. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 2.00pm. To research, collate and record information about the local area, in a friendly, informal environment.

Computer classes

Are you hopeless with computers? Would you like to be able to send and receive e-mails, surf the web, or shop on-line? You are never too old to learn! Free classes for beginners are run every Friday 10am – 12 noon. Please drop in, or contact Heeley Development Trust on 0114 2500 613 for details.

Activities for young children

The Friends of Greenhill Library are very pleased to be able to continue the following regular sessions at the library in 2018. Sessions are free but donations are welcome.

Fun Time


A fun time for 0-4 year olds and their carers with toys, craft, songs, and a snack.
Fun time drop-in sessions run on the second Monday of the month during term-time, from 10-11.30 am. All are welcome. There is no charge but a donation is appreciated.

Story Time

Stories and craft for pre-schoolers.

10-10.45 on alternate Fridays in term time.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer. Age range 2 – 4 years. Donations welcome!

Children’s Crafts
