Friday evening talk 7pm 22 September: “By Train to Mongolia”
An illustrated talk by Sheila Dyson. Leaving Moscow on the Lake Baikal Express, it took 5 days to reach Irkutsk in Eastern Siberia. Watching 1500 miles of taiga give way to the Sayan Mountains, the Siberian landscape unfolds. Lake Baikal is the “Jewel of Siberia” and the City of Irkutsk has a wonderful relaxed feel to it after Moscow. The Mongolian line goes from there south to Ulan Bator, capital of Mongolia where the Nadam national sports festival takes place. A flight from Ulan Bator to Bejing rounds off this trip with a visit to the Great Wall. Lots of adventures on the way to bring this fascinating journey to life. Tickets £5 available now.
